Ryan's research addresses the mechanisms and evolution of animal communication. My lab is especially interested in sexual signals in the auditory and visual modality and most work is with fishes and frogs. Our research approach uses behavior, sensory ecology, phylogenetic reconstruction and neurophysiology.
